My Road to Damascus

My road to Damascus happened at home on our deck.

I was two weeks into our vacation, sitting on a comfortable patio chair, meditating on A Course in Miracles, the verse: "Above all else, I want to see."

I looked out across the serene bay. I felt peacefulness glow from within me, emanating from my tummy.

I looked up into the maple rising over the deck, its dense leaves beginning to turn as we entered the last month of summer.

The maple emanated energy, the same peace I felt within.

The whole tree vibrated with energy, slowly breathing into the space around it.

In that maple I saw the shimmering of the beginning of time, of eternity, of infinite love, of grace, hope, and timelessness. It glowed love.

And I sat in my chair weeping, feeling the love flow through me, the bay and the Salish Sea.
